All-In-One CNC

All-In-One CNC

A recipient of the General Electric Energy Steinmetz Award for best senior capstone project in mechanical engineering, my senior project at Union College was to design and construct a new type of CNC machine. I found that, in spite of increased popularity of CNC technologies, and in spite of the similarities between types of CNC machines, the market still lacked an affordable machine that could accomplish multiple tasks. My hope was to fill that gap.

Reptile Terrarium

Reptile Terrarium

When I was finally ready to get my first arboreal pet reptile I found that front-opening enclosures cost a high premium, leading me to seek a less expensive solution. In the end, without good options available, I made one.

Ladder Climber

Ladder Climber

The course Dynamics and Kinematics concluded with a project for which we were asked to design and construct a machine that will climb a ladder, the 'ladder' being a long wire shelf. Working in a team of 3, we ended up being the only team with a machine that could successfully climb the full length of the ladder.

Mini Golf Robot

Mini Golf Robot

For the course Design of Mechanical Systems, we were tasked with designing and constructing a robot to be used in a mini-golf competition against the professor's 6-year-old daughter. I led the group responsible for the driving subsystem.

Woodshop Workbench

Woodshop Workbench

Early in college, I set myself to assembling a functional woodworking area in my parents' basement. This space was nearly ready (save for an immense amount of organizing and cleaning) except that it very badly needed a workbench. I set out to build a heavy-duty bench with unique features.
